# Sharing with your family

> How to share a ReceiptFold workspace read-only with someone at home - invite by email, how the invitation link and sign-in work, what a viewer can and cannot do, and how to remove someone.

On every paid plan you can share a workspace **read-only** with up to 5 people: your partner, a son or a daughter. They see the spending, the months, the vendors, the search and the insights. **Only you, the owner, change anything.**

## Invite someone

1. Open **Settings → Workspace → Share with your family**.
2. Type their email and press **Send invitation**.
3. They get an email from ReceiptFold with an **Accept the invitation** link. The link is for that email address and works for 14 days.

Pending invitations show in the same list; **Cancel invitation** withdraws one. Sending a new invitation to the same address replaces the old one.

## What the person you invited does

- **Already uses ReceiptFold** with that email: the link opens a page with **Accept and open it**; one click and the workspace opens.
- **New to ReceiptFold**: the page offers **Continue as their@email.com**; they get a sign-in link by email, and signing in creates their account, joins the workspace and opens it. Nothing else to set up.

The invitation only works for the address it was sent to.

## What a viewer can and cannot do

| A viewer can | Only the owner can |
| --- | --- |
| See Spend, Vendors, Search, Insights, months and receipts | Add sources, import history, scan receipts |
| Download the CSV and the PDF report from Search | Change categories, rules, budgets, notes |
| Switch between their own workspaces and the shared one | Review receipts, use Ask, change settings and the plan |

The app shows a viewer a line saying who shared the workspace, and hides everything that changes data; the server refuses any change from a viewer as well.

## Their own workspace

A viewer is a normal ReceiptFold account. They can create a workspace of their own any time (**Create your own workspace**), with their own receipts, sources and plan, and switch between theirs and the shared one from the menu.

## Removing someone, or leaving

- The owner removes a person with **Remove** in the same list; their access ends at once.
- If the owner's account goes back to the Free plan, sharing pauses until a paid plan is back.
